Teeth Whitening

A Brighter Smile in Penticton

We know, it’s not pretty–but as we age, our teeth darken. Usually it’s because of the food we eat–blueberries are a big culprit, or what we drink–coffee, tea and soda can stain your teeth.

Childhood medications or illnesses, tobacco use and improper oral hygiene can also cause make your smile dingy.

The good news is there’s no need to walk around with stained or discoloured teeth!

A Variety of Solutions

At Singleton Dental, we have a variety of solutions so that you can have a White, Beautiful and Affordable Smile:

1. Zoom! Whitening

If you want something quick and easy,  we offer the Zoom! system of in-office whitening.

This safe and effective system can give you the instant results you’ve been wanting, with an in-office visit of about two hours. A specially designed light activates the Zoom! Whitening Gel to gently break down stains on your teeth and give you a sparkling smile.

Zoom! Whitening  is one of the safest procedures in cosmetic dentistry, under the supervision of a trained dentist. However, we do not recommend this procedure for pregnant women or children under age 13.

As you leave our office with a beautiful new smile, you will be given some post-whitening care instructions after your procedure. It is important to maintain a good oral hygiene regimen post-whitening to preserve your bright, white smile. We also recommend occasional touch-ups with the Zoom! Take-Home Gel. Your smile will always be brighter than it was before the procedure, but by following these simple instructions, you can maintain your results for a long time!

Although the Zoom! System can help almost anyone, it may not be as effective in every case. Dr. Singleton and his team can hep you determine if tooth whitening is a possible option for your case.

2.  Custom Take-home Trays

Zoom!Whitening may not work for some types of persistent discolorations of teeth. In those cases, we use home trays to provide the bleaching product a longer period to have contact with your teeth.  These trays are worn each day for about two hours, and a gradual whitening effect will take place.  Also, these trays can be used to “update” your tooth shade at a later date.

Important to Note:

  • Previous dental restorations typically won’t whiten, so if these are stained, replacing them may become part of your treatment plan and is not included in the cost of the whitening procedures.
  • Some tooth or gums sensitivity is common with most whitening procedures, but is fortunately a short-term side effect.  If your teeth are already very sensitive, please let Dr. Singleton and his team know ahead of time.
  • The effects of whitening of your teeth may slowly fade, but it usually takes a year or more. Touch-up treatments either in-office or using your take-home trays may be required in the future.
  • Some types of stains or discolorations will whiten better than others.  Brown stains from smoking or tea or coffee are fairly easily removed.  A general yellowing of the teeth usually responds well to whitening as well.  A general greyness of the teeth, or tetracycline stains of the teeth is the most challenging type of stain to whiten, and usually requires persistent use of the take-home trays, sometimes for many weeks.
  • Touch-up bleaching product for later use in your take-home trays is available through our office for a minimal fee.
